Worldwide cable fault location experience. A very experienced fault engineer once said "there are only three types of cable fault — a complete open, a complete short, and everything in-between." Meltrace has located all three across Europe and the US.

When a cable fault occurs, it can have huge financial implications. One example was a fault located at Centre Parcs Longleat, a day before the school holidays. Rapid and accurate location minimises disruption and excavation costs.

View Course ›Meltrace helped develop and test the original CAT Cable Avoiding Tool, driving the understanding and use of the Genny signal generator.
For operatives to get the best from the equipment, only the real world will do. Meltrace only undertakes training in the environment where the equipment and operatives are likely to find themselves, without using unrealistic simulated sites.
Users should always be trained with the equipment in conditions as close to the real workplace as possible.
Meltrace ensures that operatives understand the importance of always using the Genny, including using Utility Surveying techniques and myth busting common misconceptions about buried service detection.
All operatives will learn about the importance of compliance with HSG47 and can complete a written assessment demonstrating their understanding.
Through partner companies, Meltrace can provide operatives with QCF qualifications and CITB grant funded courses.

Meltrace helped develop the first recognised training course for Utility Surveying. Now a TSA approved course with the option to add a QCF Utility Surveying qualification.
For operatives to get the best from the equipment, only the real world will do. Operatives are trained on the very streets they may find themselves undertaking a real survey.
Users have the opportunity to try many different types of equipment from the major EM and GPR manufacturers, ensuring they can operate confidently with whatever tools their employer provides.
Operatives undertake a real-world practical assessment as well as a written assessment to confirm full understanding of both the equipment and the regulatory framework.
Through partner companies, Meltrace can provide operatives with QCF qualifications and CITB grant funded courses.

Meltrace helped develop and test many of the electromagnetic location devices currently in use today and can train operatives on all types of EM equipment.
For operatives to get the best from the equipment, only the real world will do. On-site training is always the best option for understanding real-world problems encountered during utility surveys.
Operatives will learn many advanced techniques not covered by standard basic training courses, including signal behaviour in complex environments and multi-frequency operation.
Meltrace has access to and can train on the very latest EM equipment from the major manufacturers, ensuring operatives gain confidence with current industry-standard tools.
Through partner companies, Meltrace can provide operatives with QCF qualifications and CITB grant funded courses.

Training for operatives working close to overhead power lines, in accordance with HSE guidance note GS6 and ENA Technical Specification 43-8.
Operatives will understand the requirements of working close to overhead power lines as documented in the HSE guidance note GS6, including the legislation that must be adhered to on all construction and civil engineering sites.
Operatives will learn about the dangers associated with working around electricity, including the potential outcomes of contact with overhead lines, arcing, and the requirements for safe clearance distances.
All operatives will learn about the latest ENA Technical Specification 43-8, which explains the minimum working clearances from overhead lines for various types of plant and equipment.
Operatives will learn the theory and operation of the Suparule Cable Height Meter and complete a practical exercise using company-specific documentation if required.
Contact us to arrange GS6 Overhead Line Safety training for your site operatives and supervisors.
